Jim Bagley knows most of the land brokers in town. So when the real estate market nosedives, he knows where to scoop up distressed properties.
He developed many of those contacts while working for three different homebuilders in a four-year period.
And each time he changed the company name on his business card, Bagley kept in touch with former colleagues.
“He’s been through up and down cycles in the real estate market, he’s got contacts all over and he really knows what’s going on,” said Suresh Gupta, CEO of one of Bagley’s former employers, Orlando-based homebuilder Park Square Homes. “He’s just an amazing guy.”
And now, Bagley’s on to his next gig — $1 billion worth of projects.
That includes single-family homes, apartments, commercial space and short-term rental homes for his current employer, Encore Housing Opportunity Fund. T
To that end, Bagley quietly has been buying up nearly 3,500 distressed home lots in Central Florida.
